Scott, Pulled Pork, and the Heimlich

So no pictures with this post - Scott left for Boise this morning to visit our friends Ethan and Marc and he took the camera with him to capture the Boise mountains, etc...so this weekend's posts may be void of any photos. Or perhaps I'll scrounge up some old adorable kitten photos.

Last night was the UniHill 2K, part of the annual Boulder Race Series that Scott always runs in. We had a great time as always and went out for dinner with friends afterwards. We were sitting around enjoying dinner when Scott suddenly starting choking - turns out he had coughed and sipped water at the same time, plus had tired lungs from running. When we asked if he was okay and he did not seem to be due to his excessive gasping and inability to speak, I started pitifully calling out, "someone help him!" and our friend Ryan jumped in and did the Heimlich. Yes, Scott had to have the Heimlich performed on him. Scott spewed forth two huge chunks of pulled pork and was okay. He certainly garnered the restaurant's attention, too. Lots of coughing and watery eyes but an alive Scott - this morning he was 100% fine. Eerily enough, Ryan had just been to a CPR course that afternoon to re-up his certification. Good timing. I was thoroughly freaked out, perhaps even more so than Scott, but it was really scary. I excessively thanked Ryan for his heroics and excessively hugged my still-breathing husband. All in all, a high drama night.

The fun never ends in Boulder does it . . .

You guys really know how to have a good time.

What happened to the two chunks of pulled pork that Scott "spewed" forth ? Did he have a chance to eat them again or did you go with a kitty box for A/M ?

I wonder if any patrons demanded a refund for being grossed out ?
