So no pictures with this post - Scott left for Boise this morning to visit our friends Ethan and Marc and he took the camera with him to capture the Boise mountains, etc...so this weekend's posts may be void of any photos. Or perhaps I'll scrounge up some old adorable kitten photos.
Last night was the UniHill 2K, part of the annual Boulder Race Series that Scott always runs in. We had a great time as always and went out for dinner with friends afterwards. We were sitting around enjoying dinner when Scott suddenly starting choking - turns out he had coughed and sipped water at the same time, plus had tired lungs from running. When we asked if he was okay and he did not seem to be due to his excessive gasping and inability to speak, I started pitifully calling out, "someone help him!" and our friend Ryan jumped in and did the Heimlich. Yes, Scott had to have the Heimlich performed on him. Scott spewed forth two huge chunks of pulled pork and was okay. He certainly garnered the restaurant's attention, too. Lots of coughing and watery eyes but an alive Scott - this morning he was 100% fine. Eerily enough, Ryan had just been to a CPR course that afternoon to re-up his certification. Good timing. I was thoroughly freaked out, perhaps even more so than Scott, but it was really scary. I excessively thanked Ryan for his heroics and excessively hugged my still-breathing husband. All in all, a high drama night.

That Little Angel
Atlanta's finest, Jez Holladay, showing off her angel face. Brian & Kylie, we think Jez looks a little more orange than usual. Did you guys start dyeing her fur to get her ready for UT football season??

Cats & Katie - and info on the farm
Katie was here in Denver for a wedding this past Friday and stayed for an extra night here in Boulder. Great to see her and there was a lot of cat bonding time for her - I believe she may have even enjoyed being around them! She declared them "more mellow" than last year. That may be. The 100 degree heat may have helped as well...

Don't worry, mom, I didn't get sunburned, I just get really red post-jog...

Katie actually making contact with a cat - hand to fur love.

We were lucky enough to take home one of the bridesmaid's bouquets from the wedding Katie went to this weekend - Millie is checking out all the flowers here:
And for those wondering where exactly Dad and Peter's farm is that the Gores/Holladays are visiting in a few weekends, here's a link to city data on Carrollton, Ohio, which is the closest town to the farm - lots of interesting stuff there. And a few photos from our trip to the farm last August, though now there are several new buildings and Lake Sara was expanded. Enjoy!

1977
While most of us were living in 2007 this past weekend, Katie and a few friends who turned 30 this past month all got together to throw a 1977 Party in honor of the year they were born. This involved costumes as evidenced below. Please enjoy these photos of Katie and Pete as much as I do. Priceless.

Anniversary Trip to Telluride
As many of you know, this past weekend we decided to spend some time in Telluride (see map; zoom out on map to see where it is within Colorado - or here's a map of all of Colorado) to celebrate our 1st anniversary. We left on Friday afternoon and drove to Salida (see map) to make it about halfway to Telluride. We got to Salida around 7 PM and checked in with the B&B we were staying in for the night. Salida is not huge; in 2005, the population of Salida was 5,728. Scott needed a plaid shirt and cowboy hat to fit in a little better. Brian, we almost picked up a birthday cowboy hat for you before we realized how extremely pricey they are. Who knew. There was a nice river nearby and it was great to be there in time to have dinner and enjoy the hot tub at the B&B. As soon as we turned the hot tub on, a cat came running up to say hello - we found out the next morning that he was the B&B's outdoor cat and has been known to lick people on the back while they're in the hot tub. He didn't lick us but certainly enjoyed meowing at us.
We also made a detour to Ouray (see map) - it's prononced You-Ray - and got some ice cream and coffee there. This was an even tiny town than Salida - in 2003 there were less than 900 residents! The elevation was 7,811 feet as compared to about 5,400 feet in Boulder.

Sitting on the porch in our hotel room....
We took the free gondola up the mountain and enjoyed the views before exploring the town some more and heading out for an anniversary dinner. We also stopped and got a bottle of wine at a liquor store - what did we see as soon as we walked in? A Russian Gray cat sitting on top of some cases of beer. There are cats everywhere if you have your eyes open for them. Sorry we didn't take pics of the random cats!

All in all, a great trip but also a lot of driving. We are happy to be home with the cats (of course!) and looking forward to our next trip to the farm in Ohio to see Gores & Holladays.
The next morning we were on the road fairly early and headed west to Telluride. We made a few pit stops to take photos and stretch our legs.

We arrived in Telluride around 3:30 PM on Saturday, giving us a fair amount of time to wander around the town. Telluride's population was about 2,300 in 2003 and its elevation is 8,793 feet. Here are some pics on the drive into town, which is well off the beaten path.
On top of the mountain...

And the coming back down again...

This morning we slept in a little and headed back home via Grand Junction - it was about a 7 hour drive not including a few stops for lunch, coffee, and gas.
